Marc Sadler

Designer Marc Sadler currently lives in Milan. Experimentation with plastics has been a key part of his career. He is a consultant for companies in the fields of home furnishings, large and small household appliances, lighting, technically advanced products, and sports.

At the beginning of the 1970s, he designed the first completely recyclable ski-boot in thermo-plastic and patented the asymmetric shell system that was to remain a very popular ski boot for several years. This is was the beginning of his specialisation as a sports designer. Working in this sector, which has often pioneered research into new materials and techniques, provided the experience to enable him to bring innovation to more traditional areas such as furniture design.

Awarded 4 times with the Compasso d’Oro ADI (Industrial Design Association) for the lamps Drop (Flos, 1994), Tite and Mite (Foscarini, 2001), the bookshelf Big (Caimi Brevetti, 2008) and the gelato display case Bellevue with Panorama technology (IFI, 2014), his work has won many international design awards over the years. His motorcyclist’s back protector designed for Dainese is now housed in the permanent collection of design at the MOMA in New York and the Lamp Mite (Foscarini) is part of the design collection of the Beaubourg in Paris.
