X Table | HM13
X Table | HM13 by Hvidt + Mølgaard for &Tradition.
The X coffee table, designed in 1959 by Hvidt & Mølgaard, was revived from &traditions archive in 2024. Originally conceived as the companion piece to the X Chair, the table draws influence from the ancient Egyptian folding chairs, a design element that has inspired Danish architects for centuries.
Made from veneered oak, the table combines meticulous craftsmanship with a minimalist design, taking cues from Japanese woodworking traditions, particularly visible in its curved edge. Its simple yet striking X-profile is held together by a metal frame, offering both strength and visual appeal.
The table was designed to comfortably seat four people, providing ample space for engaging conversation.
