BM1160 Hunting table, 1950
BM1160 Hunting table by Børge Mogensen for Carl Hansen + Son.
Designed for the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild Furniture Exhibition in 1950, the BM1160 Hunting Table is a modern and robust wood table by Børge Morgensen. Stylish and practical, this table is adaptable and suited to small intimate settings.
The table has a slightly narrow top and features rounded corners and edges. Signature tenon joints on the legs are finished with contrasting wood wedges to highlight the quality of craftsmanship. In addition to the impressive woodwork, the BM1160 table's sturdiness is reinforced by the diagonal brace metal bars connecting the tabletop and frame.
Børge Mogensen completed his cabinet-maker training in 1934 and went on to study furniture at Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts and at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. He worked in Kaare Klint and Mogens Koch’s design studios before he took on the role as chief designer at the Danish Furniture Cooperative FDB in 1942. His design contributions have garnered international respect for the high quality of output and democratic approach to furnishing modern interiors.
