Spectators fabric by Lucienne Day for Classic Textiles.
After graduating from the Printed Textiles department of the Royal College of Art in 1940, Lucienne Day's design career faced limitations due to the effects of the Second World War. As the restrictions of the war began to ease, she started to create modern furnishing textile designs that moved away from the bleakness of the war years.
This design, which features spectacle-wearing figures as "spectators", is visually and verbally clever. It was awarded a Gran Premio at the Milan Triennale in 1954 and is considered one of Lucienne's favourite designs, as it perfectly captures her playful and lively style when designing patterns.
Lucienne Day printed textiles from the 1950s have been reissued and digitally printed in 12 different designs and many more colourways.

Spectators repeat drop size 61cm, repeat width size 34.25cm, based on a fabric width of 140cm, print area 137cm.

Made of Linen Union, a linen cotton blend.
Printed with Reactive dye.
Please note: As Spectators is made to order, there may be a slight variation in colour between different batches.
Suitable for curtains, blinds and light domestic upholstery use only, such as cushions/decorative chairs. Not appropriate for upholstered seating.
