Calvert Chess Table

ES09 Calvert Chess Table by Ferdinand Kramer for e15.

Ferdinand Kramer’s Calvert Table, designed in 1951, is part of his renowned "Knock-Down" series, which explores simplicity, functionality, and adaptability. The design draws a clear parallel to garment pattern pieces: components are precision-cut from a single sheet of plywood and seamlessly assembled into a three-dimensional form.

To commemorate the 120th anniversary of Kramer’s birth, the Calvert Chess Table was released. Based on a cardboard picnic version originally proposed by Kramer for Coca-Cola in 1951, this edition features a silkscreen-printed black chessboard on natural oak and incorporates built-in magnets for functional elegance.

Note: Due to the magnets, items sensitive to magnetic fields, such as smartphones or credit cards, should not be placed on the tabletop.

Chess pieces not included.
