Pyramid bench, 1959

Pyramid bench by Friso Kramer & Wim Rietveld for HAY.

Designed by Friso Kramer and Wim Rietveld during their time working at Ahrend in the 1950s, the Pyramid collection of benches and tables and the Result chair have been relaunched by HAY together with Ahrend. The Pyramid collection features a range of tables and benches with a wooden surface and elegant metal base.

Regarded as a triumph in its innovative use of cutout sheet steel construction in the '50s, the Pyramid collection makes sparing use of materials to achieve lightness, adaptability and strength. This timeless range continues to remain relevant to its exceptional construction and design.

The Pyramid bench is a simple and industrial-looking wood bench. Suited to the dining room or hallway, this minimalist bench is available in two versions: Pyramid bench 11 and Pyramid bench 12, with a top overhang.

HAY was founded in 2002 by Danish couple Rolf and Mette Hay and business partner Troels Holch Povlsen.

HAY was founded in 2002 by Danish couple Rolf and Mette Hay and business partner Troels Holch Povlsen.

The couple who met while working at Danish furniture brand Gubi had a clear idea that furniture design and price should both be accessible to the widest possible audience. It is still this goal, coupled with an ambition to return Danish furniture design to the innovative greatness of the 1950’s and 1960’s in a contemporary context, which drive the business today. By creating meaningful, practical and accessible furniture, lighting and accessories Hay hope to contribute to making every day a little nicer.
