Introducing the Pear Bubble Light, a timeless and iconic mid-century design by George Nelson. Originally created in 1947 and put into production in 1952, this pendant light features a unique intersecting skeletal frame that creates a striking and contemporary contour. The translucent shade is made from a self-webbing plastic material that diffuses a soft and warm light, perfect for creating a cosy atmosphere in any space.
Nelson was inspired to create this series after seeing a set of expensive Swedish silk-covered pendant lamps. Using a lightweight rounded-steel frame and the self-webbing plastic material, he was able to create a modest yet stunning lighting series that became an instant classic.
The Nelson pendant collection is now part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art, New York.

All Bubble Lamp models have a steel-wire skeleton on the interior which is spray coated with the translucent plastic polymer resulting in a lamp that is both opaque and transparent as it glows.
