Nelson Saucer Crisscross Bubble Pendant by George Nelson for HAY.
The iconic mid-century Bubble Light series was designed by George Nelson in 1947 and was first put into production in 1952. The Saucer Crisscross Bubble light features an intersecting skeletal frame, creating a striking contour to the pendant, the shade providing a soft, diffused light.
Inspired by a set of silk-covered Swedish pendant lamps that he felt were too expensive, Nelson created his own modest orb lighting series. Rather than silk, he used a self-webbing plastic developed by the military to form the translucent shell over a lightweight, rounded-steel frame.
The renowned Bubble pendant forms part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art, New York.

Materials
The Saucer Crisscross Bubble pendant is made of an off-white webbing polymer with a ceiling plate in brushed nickel. Each lamp is provided with a white 183cm PVC isolation cable. Please note hard wiring is required.
