Tomoshi, which translates from Japanese to mean 'light', is a small portable lamp with gentle curves and subtle details. Designed by Oki Sato at Nendo in 2024, its inspiration came from the classic tulip-shaped lantern form.
This light marks Nendo's first venture into portable lighting. Sato noted that the design process was very different from a traditional floor or table lamp, remarking that a "portable light is more personal" because you carry it around and spend more time interacting with it.
Although minimalist in appearance, Tomoshi features astute details that elevate its appeal, from the smooth matte finish of the leather strap to the satisfying click of the flat button and the tactile experience of dimming the light.
The rechargeable lamp emits a soft, glare-free light that illuminates the surface below while also providing some ambient light.

The Tomoshi Portable comes with a USB-C cable only.
Avoid leaving the cord in after the battery is fully charged and the light on, as this can potentially harm the battery's lifetime and usage capacity over time.
