The plywood chairs created by the Eames’ in the mid-1940s represent a seminal period in the history of modern furniture. The combination of technically innovative processes and sculptural, artistic forms provided for one of the greatest achievements in furniture design.
Kerstin Holmquist was a respected furniture and textile designer. Her partnership esteemed department store NK Sweden was extremely productive lasting from 1952 through to 1964.
The celebrated Paradis series of furniture included a sofa, chaise-longue and three armchair designs. The family of furniture was characterised by flowing, organic lines with an elegant and sculptural leg. The designs required handcrafted timber frames to achieve the fine lines and form. Despite the labour-intensive costs, the designs found favour both in Sweden and overseas, being specified for high-end interiors.
The Paradis armchairs offer characterful design through subtle detailing and a sensitive understanding of form.

Materials
The chairs have been completely refurbished and reupholstered in Kvadrat, Harald velvet.
