The Papa Bear chair was the first Hans J Wegner chair to be produced by PP Mobler, and it marks a lifelong collaboration involving countless hours developing prototypes and production techniques for numerous Wegner designs.
Designed in 1951, it remains one of Wegner's most exclusive designs due to the intensive and exacting nature of its construction; over 100 separate production processes are involved, carried out by skilled Danish craftsmen.

The Papa Bear chair was the first Hans J Wegner chair to be produced by PP Mobler, and it marks a lifelong collaboration involving countless hours developing prototypes and production techniques for numerous Wegner designs.
Designed in 1951, it remains one of Wegner's most exclusive designs due to the intensive and exacting nature of its construction; over 100 separate production processes are involved, carried out by skilled Danish craftsmen.

Materials
The solid wood frame is hand-joined to provide a base for the traditional upholstery. With the exception of the seat cushion, no foam is used in the upholstery; the back and armrests are stuffed with cotton, palm and flax fibre and horsehair. The addition of springs creates a durable and immensely comfortable easy chair which embraces the sitter in a warm hug, as its name suggests.
Wood available in oak (soap/clear bio oil/white bio oil), ash (soap/white bio oil), cherry (clear bio oil), or walnut (clear bio oil).

Standard fabric: Alchemy, Balance, Blans, Bogø, Color, Criss Cross, Fiord, Foss, Halk, Hallingdal, Harzen, Linara, Maple, Moss, Rami, Rami Plus, Re-Wool, Savanna, Steelcut, Tiree, Tweed, Tonica, Tonus
Exclusive fabric: Bridget, Coda, Divina, Divina Melange, Flair, Grand Mohair*, Karakorum, McNutt*, Molly, Nobel, Savak, Sunniva, Steelcut, Steelcut Trio, Svevo, Vidar
Standard leather: Vegetal (nature), Elegance (Black, indian red, walnut or mocca), Vacona (sahara, cognac, teak, matble, indigo blue or fango)
*Piping and buttons must be leather or other suitable fabric.
The chair can be further customised for a surcharge. You can have the 'paws' in contrasting woods, buttons in contrasting leather/fabric, cushion in alternative leather and piping on the seat cushions, arms and back. Please enquire here for more details.
