PP250 Valet chair, 1953
PP 250 Valet chair by Hans Wegner for PP Mobler.
Fun often plays a major part in Wegner's work, and this is perhaps most obvious in the Valet chair. The idea for the chair was conceived to solve the problem of folding clothes in the most practical way at bedtime.
Wegner took his ideas on how to solve this and united the functions with playful, sculptural design. The top rail is shaped as a coat hanger, and the seat is a box for storing.
