The Canvas Chair
The Canvas Chair by Børge Mogensen for Fredericia.
The Canvas Chair was designed in 1970 by Børge Mogensen as a reaction to flamboyant furniture of the 1960s. Its pared-back design and use of natural materials is an elegant example of form following function, with nothing to add or subtract.
Its balanced form encapsulates Mogensen's predilection for honest, organic materials, its flat canvas seat and back suspended from rounded wooden bars that sit within his trademark horizontal and vertically structured frame.
