Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm

Jørgen Kastholm and Preben Juhl Fabricius were driven to make form a pure derivative of function. Both Kastholm and Juhl Fabricius were architects. They graduated from the Danish School of Interior Design, where they studied under Finn Juhl and Arne Jacobsen.

The duo partnered for less than a decade, and only created a handful of designs, however, they have left a legacy of work and have been honoured in museums around the world — from the Museu de Arte in São Paulo to MoMA in New York and the Musée d`Art Moderne in Paris.

Juhl Fabricius was trained as a cabinetmaker and Kastholm as a blacksmith, giving the duo a balanced perspective to define a new kind of luxury and adding a level of elegance to the functionalism of Danish Modern design. A mix of materials, sleek, elongated forms and symmetry defined the pair's designs, many of which were commissioned for airports, penthouse apartments and even James Bond movies.
