First shown at the 1937 Paris World’s Fair but never produced, the Riihitie Plant Pot was designed by Finnish icon Aino Aalto. Made for the terrace of the Aaltos’ home on Riihitie Road in Helsinki, the planter reflects the duo’s belief that even the smallest design details matter.
Now reinterpreted in three sizes for indoor use, the plant pot is crafted from ceramic with a glossy glaze that highlights its smooth, curved, organic form. The material was central to the Aaltos’ architectural work, valued for its durability and connection to nature.
To mark the centenary of Finland’s independence in 2017, Artek launched the current edition of this icon of Finnish modernism. Ideal for displaying plants or storing stationery and other small objects.
