Blythburgh Blanket
Blythburgh Blanket by Eleanor Pritchard.
The Blythburgh Blanket is a homage to a small village in East Suffolk, drawing inspiration from the floor of a medieval church found there.
Its geometric design mimics the church’s stone flooring - a patchwork of antique, cracked quarry tiles and bricks. The blanket’s palette draws on these earthy tones, with shades of chalk, oatmeal, plaster pink, straw, rust, and charred black. Despite the church’s grandeur, there is a homely, grounding quality to it - a feeling reflected in the blanket as well.
Woven from soft wool, the blanket features subtle score lines across the surface, creating a gentle ribbed texture. Its raw-edged finish echoes the character and craftsmanship of the medieval church that inspired it.
This blanket is part of the East Anglian Quintet collection.
