Ten years after the Beetle Chair's inception, Gubi introduced the Beetle Dining Chair with a veneer shell in 2023. The new, natural material reimagines the organic form of the original Beetle shell while emphasising the shape's connection to the natural world. Available in oak or walnut, the perfectly curved veneer shell echos the beetle's protective exoskeleton, while the upholstered front maximises the chair's comfort.
The bold outer veneer shell is 3D-molded using a bending press, a method of veneer shaping pioneered by mid-century designers. The moulding process transforms the veneer into a three-dimensional shape, enhancing the grain and colour of the wood.
With a range of upholstery fabrics and base and shell finishes, the Beetle chair is suitable for diverse interior settings. The Beetle Chair with Veneer Shell is also available with a wood, plastic and stackable base. Please enquire for more details.

Shell in laminated moulded veneer in semi matt lacquered American Walnut or Oak. Soft padding made of moulded polyurethane foam.
