C-chair, paper cord, 1947
C-Chair paper cord dining chair by Marcel Gascoin for Gubi.
The elegant C-Chair designed in 1947 is one of Gascoign's most well-known pieces. The chair was originally designed to fit into the new sizes of homes built in the post-war years in France. Here Gascoin created a simple, functional piece of furniture to make up for the lack of space in these new homes.
The seat and the backrest of the chair are upholstered with paper-cord. The sturdy wooden frame is available in black stained oak matt lacquered finish, oak oiled finish or American walnut oiled finish.
Other versions are available with an upholstered seat or fully upholstered.
