First conceived by Mario Bellini in 1966 during his collaboration with manufacturer C&B Italia, the Amanta system redefined what modular seating could be. Reissued by HAY in 2025, the Amanta 4 Seater Sofa expands Bellini’s vision into a generous, flexible format suited to modern interiors.
With its bold, low-slung form and architectural presence, the Amanta 4 Seater preserves all the hallmarks of the original: independent cushions, sculptural contours, and a striking visible frame that becomes a defining design element. A slot at the back improves strength while adding to its distinctive silhouette. Each module rests on four black spheres that gently lift it from the floor.
The seat cushions are now crafted with a sustainable, biomass-balanced foam and feature three signature tufted buttons on both seat and backrest. This edition also introduces sustainable innovation: the outer shell is made from post-consumer recycled ABS plastic and is available in a range of coloured backs to suit various upholstery options. Every component is engineered for disassembly, ensuring longevity, easy maintenance, and recyclability.

Shell made from ABS with at least 99% post-consumer recycled content.
Moulded plywood board seat with 94% biomass-balanced foam cushions (minimum 87% biomass-balanced for CMHR-treated foam cushions).
Feet made from 100% post-consumer recycled black ABS.
