Originally conceived in 1966 by Italian architect and designer Mario Bellini, the Amanta Sofa was part of a collaboration with manufacturer C&B Italia. Reissued by HAY in 2025, the 2 Seater Sofa continues to embody the essence of mid-century Italian design through its sculptural, low-slung silhouette and bold architectural presence.
Bellini’s innovative approach to modularity set a new standard for contemporary seating. Each unit functions independently or as part of a larger system, making it adaptable for both residential and contract environments. The distinctive exposed slotted frame not only reinforces its structure but also serves as a striking visual element. The frame of each module rests on four spheres that soften the connection with the floor.
Crafted with precision and a commitment to sustainability, the shell is made from post-consumer recycled ABS with biomass-balanced foam cushions. All components are designed for disassembly, ensuring both durability and environmental responsibility.

Materials
Shell made from ABS with at least 99% post-consumer recycled content.
Moulded plywood board seat with 94% biomass-balanced foam cushions (minimum 87% biomass-balanced for CMHR-treated foam cushions).
Feet made from 100% post-consumer recycled black ABS.
