Donkey 3, 2003

Donkey 3 by Shin and Tomoko Azumi for Isokon Plus.

The original Isokon Penguin Donkey was designed in 1939 as a convenient way of storing the newly-launched Penguin paperback and has since become a classic of twentieth design.

In 1963 Isokon invited designer Ernest Race to produce a Penguin Donkey Mark 2 and the design has subsequently been revised by designers Shin and Tomoko Azumi in the form of Donkey 3.

Isokon Plus invited the Azumi's to create their own take on the Penguin Donkey in 2003. Their design remains true to the spirit of the original designs of Riss and Race, offering convenient and attractive storage for books, magazines, toys and other items.
