Architect Vilhelm Lauritzen initially created the VL45 light for the Danish Broadcasting Company's headquarters, the Radiohuset, in Copenhagen, which now houses the Royal Danish Academy of Music.
In 2024, Louis Poulsen reimagined this timeless and elegant design into a versatile portable lamp, perfect for creating ambience anywhere. The portable lamp is available in three sophisticated colour options: Opal, Pale Rose, and Pale Yellow, all featuring brass detailing that pays homage to the original design.

Materials
The VL45 is available in three finishes: white opal, pale rose and pale yellow. The white opal finish is made from 3 layers of mouth-blown glossy glass while the pale rose and pale yellow finishes are made from 4 layers of mouth-blown glass.
The white opal and pale rose finishes feature a top and bottom made of lacquered brass with hairlines. The pale yellow finish has a top and bottom made from lacquered aged brass with hairlines.
Handle made from light leather.
Light source (included):3W LED Dim-2-Warm (2000-2700K).
USB-C Port on the bottom cover with charging LED light.
The VL45 Portable has an IP rating of 44, meaning it is protected from solid particles that are over 1mm in size and from low-velocity sprays of water from every direction. It is not waterproof and should not be stored outside.
