Kingston High-Back Chair

Kingston High-Back Chair by William Plunkett.

Designed in 1967, the Kingston High-Back Chair belongs to the Kingston family, a collection of seats characterised by individually padded cushions and steel-footed bases. The high-back model stands as the tallest seat in the collection, featuring six separate elements, making it ideal for lounging.

Meticulously crafted, the Kingston range is built with high-quality materials. The base and frame are made from extruded aluminium bars, precisely engineered and bolted together, while the deeply padded upholstered elements are securely held within the frame, ensuring both comfort and durability.

Although considered highly unconventional when first designed, the Kingston has since become an accepted and much-used typology for modular seating designs. The collection has offered great flexibility to domestic and commercial interiors and was supplied to several important projects, including the QE2 Cruise Liner, Russell and Bromley shoe stores, and the Design Centre in Mayfair.

The current production includes low and high-back lounge chairs, a sofa, a daybed and a stool. Please see the 'related products' section below.
