The 016 Maasto range presents Vaarnii’s first exploration into using composite wood. Designed by Ronan Bouroullec, the 016 Maasto Dining Chair is crafted with a solid pine backrest and seat and features pine plywood sides for strength.
Specially produced by Vaarnii, the Finnish pine plywood has been selected for its exaggerated grain. The chair’s simple design and construction contrast the natural patterns of the pine, elevating and showcasing the expression of the material.
With a gently sloped back and softly curved seat, the Maasto chair has been designed for a comfortable everyday dining experience.

Materials
Backrest and seat in solid Finnish pine, sides in Finnish pine plywood produced by Vaarnii.
Available in either a natural Osmo Colour oil-wax finish or a black stained and lacquered finish.
Choose an optional upholstered seat or seat and back. The natural pine finish is upholstered in Alle 134, while the black stained pine is upholstered in Alle 194.
The pine wood is harvested from sustainably managed Finnish forests, is PEFC certified and slow grown.
As a result of the naturally occurring oils and resins in the wood, pine develops a rich honey colour over time.
Please note: due to the soft nature of pinewood, the material is prone to developing scratches and dents. Vaarnii believes these markings are to be celebrated and viewed as building to the uniqueness and charm of the product.
