The Eames Lounge chair, designed in 1956, offers a perfect blend of comfort, fine materials, and craftsmanship. Inspired by the classic British club chair, Charles and Ray Eames wanted to create a lighter, more refined, and contemporary lounge seat. Since its conception, it has become one of the most recognised designs in modern furniture history.
The production of the Lounge Chair involves 47 distinct steps, many of which require handwork. Each step is meticulously executed using high-quality materials to ensure long-lasting quality, making the lounge chair durable enough to be passed down for generations.
Since the design began production, the average human height has increased by nearly 10cm. As such, Vitra developed a new, larger version of the Lounge Chair, allowing the option to choose between the original 'Classic dimensions' and the larger size.
Herman Miller has the sole license for the Charles and Ray Eames collection in the U.S. and the Far East. Therefore the export of these products from the UK to the U.S. is not possible.
The Vitra original selection offers a 10-year warranty.

Materials
The seat and backrest shells are available in plywood with black-pigmented walnut veneer.
The five-star swivel base and back brace are made of die-cast aluminium, available in the following finishes: polished aluminium or polished aluminium with black sides.
Vitra uses 95% recycled aluminium whenever possible.

Base available with a choice of glides for carpet or hard flooring.
