Cone Chair

Cone Chair by Verner Panton for Vitra.

In 1958, Verner Panton was tasked to revamp the newly opened restaurant Kom Igen in Langesø Parkin in Denmark by his father, the restaurant's manager. Panton overhauled the interior, crafting a groundbreaking ambience with geometric patterns and a limited palette of five distinct shades of red. His visionary touch extended to textiles, lighting, furniture, staff uniforms, and menus.

Panton's masterpiece for the project was the Cone Chair, a marvel in design resembling a ballet dancer poised on her toes. Its form featured a semi-circular padded shell reaching upward to form the back and armrests, ensuring a remarkably comfortable seating experience. The chair stood upon a sleek four-star brushed stainless steel base, a design Panton hailed as simpler and more elegant than the traditional four-legged bistro chair.

The Vitra original selection offers a 10-year warranty.
