Inspired by the silk-covered Swedish pendant lamps the designer wanted for his studio, George Nelson sought to provide an affordable alternative. By ingeniously utilizing a self-webbing plastic material developed by the military, he achieved a translucent shell that encases a lightweight, rounded-steel frame. This design fusion strikes a perfect balance between elegance and durability.
