MR Side Chair | Bauhaus Era

MR Side Chair by Mies Van der Rohe for Knoll.

The MR collection designed by Mies van der Rohe between 1927 and 1929, features timeless modern forms and groundbreaking use of tubular steel. The collection, although inspired by the innovative spirit of Bauhaus master Marcel Breur, remains true to van der Rohe's minimalist aesthetic.

In 2024, Knoll introduced three new matte frame colours inspired by the Bauhaus movement, giving the collection a new visual identity. These colours were carefully chosen to reflect the aesthetic identity of the Bauhaus school and early Mies van der Rohe productions, which often featured frames painted in white and deep red.
