The Genie Lounge Chair, created by the London-based Japanese design duo Mentsen, effortlessly blends minimalism with contemporary comfort. Drawing from the iconic rounded forms of Aalto’s Paimio chair and Breuer’s Isokon Long chair, this piece introduces a modern twist with its non-rigid, sling seat and back.
The sling is made from Ecru Denim woven by Candiani, one of the world’s most sustainable mills. Made from 100% organic cotton, the fabric is undyed and unbleached, showcasing its natural colour and subtle cottonseed flecks. Solid oak armrests bring a natural warmth to the piece, while the powder-coated steel frame offers a sleek, contemporary aesthetic, available in a wide range of finishes. Every detail has been carefully considered to prioritise comfort and functionality. The addition of a plush upholstered seat pad enhances the overall comfort.
The minimal steel frame is intentionally subtle, nearly disappearing into the background, creating the illusion of fabric draped over an invisible structure. The result is a chair that exudes both comfort and refinement, effortlessly complementing any modern interior.
