Eames RE DAX Armchair
Eames RE DAX Armchair by Charles + Ray Eames for Vitra.
Plastic Armchairs were first presented as part of a New York Museum of Modern Art competition, “Low Cost Furniture Design”. Their organically shaped plastic seat shells were later combined with various different bases and manufactured in their millions.
The Eames Plastic Chair has undergone numerous refinements and adjustments throughout its conception in the 1950s. To enhance its sustainability the chair shells now utilise recycled materials sourced from German household waste, notably collected through the 'Der Gelbe Sack' (Yellow Bag) system and predominantly from used packaging. This shift from traditional plastic to recycled material not only contributes to a reduction in climate-damaging emissions but also conserves energy.
DAX stands for Dining Height Armchair X-Base.
Also available with an upholstered seat, or with an upholstered seat and back here.
Herman Miller has the sole license for the Charles and Ray Eames collection in the U.S. and the Far East. Therefore the export of these products from the UK to the U.S. is not possible.
Note: Only the chairs with powder-coated finish are suitable for outdoor use. Chairs with chrome finish are not suitable for outdoor use.
