Table 90D Seireeni

Artek + Marimekko Table 90D Seireeni by Alvar Aalto for Artek.

As part of the 90th anniversary Artek + Marimekko collaboration, the Table 90D is reimagined with Maija Isola’s Seireeni (Siren) pattern, first created in 1964. The circular tabletop becomes a quiet stage for the print, translated through a refined marquetry technique on Finnish birch.

Designed by Alvar Aalto in 1933, the Table 90D is low and round, conveying a sense of calm utility. Its soft geometry and scale allow it to shift easily between domestic and public settings, in line with Aalto’s vision for adaptable, human-centric design. The table’s structure is anchored by the signature L-shaped bent legs that become a hallmark of his work.

The Seireeni pattern, inspired by the hypnotic movement of water during Isola's travels in Greece, finds new expression in the surface of birch. Using contrasting wood grains, the marquetry brings out the pattern’s undulating forms, while creating a subtle shimmering effect when rotated and viewed in different light. This technique also reflects both Artek and Marimekko’s commitment to sustainability, minimising wood waste in the production process.

Bringing together art and technology, this edition of Table 90D honours the legacy of Finnish modernism while continuing its quiet evolution.

Available to order until 31 December 2025.
